Samsung Develops 5MP CIS for Handsets

Samsung has completed development of a 5MP CMOS image sensor, expected to hit production in the fourth quarter of 2005. Made with 0.13 production process technology, the sensor has 2608 ?1952 QSXGA resolution, a 1cm lens, and pixel size of 2.2 x 2.2 microns, making it roughly 30% smaller than sensors of similar specifications offered by competitors.
